In the Standard Run :
Food per capita peaks in 2008.
Industrial Output per capita peaks in 2010.
Pollution peaks in 2031.
Population peaks in 2050.
In the Double Resources run :
Food per capita peaks in 2015.
Industrial Output per capita peaks in 2028.
Population peaks in 2041, and pollution increases without limit.
The peak of resource extraction rate occurs in 2030,
so doubling resources has only delayed the inevitable by 20 years.
(Based on data from"Limits to Growth", described by Dave Kimble)
The oil peak has already hit, masked by the economic depression. We as a human race have shown a great inability to change unless huge numbers of people are dying in a high impact way. Deliberately the corporate media have hid the numbers of already catastrophic events. The Katrinia impact on New Orleans is a harbinger of what is to come - over 2000 deaths. Paint the western United States literally on fire and yet we still do not see.
As the graph shows there is not one susceptibility, everything is weakening. Denial is the theme of the people who have economic power to make the hard choice of change. Granted there are many rich heroes who do speak up and take action, the greatest numbers are in denial mode.
I still have hope, for historically I have never so such an awesome array of ordinary people become such heroes, working for a good outcome. If one had to choose a lifetime to live, it would be now, standing with the greatest array of heroes to ever be. It is the test of being good guy that we act out of values, principles and character not just for treasure, outcomes and rewards. This is the test of who we are. And we are the good guys. I am so proud to be with you all! |
