Businesswoman Sharon Sund announced her second challenge to Republican U.S. Rep. Erik Paulsen on Thursday…
“As your congresswoman, I will work tirelessly to ensure that all families have access to a world-class education, quality health care, and a healthy environment, and all of us have a voice in the decisions that impact our lives,” she said in a statement.

Voters need to quit buying Paulsen’s sleazy con, pretending to be a “moderate” while compiling a voting record that has been, at least for the past couple of terms, as bad as any Tea Partier’s. Just, get this guy out of Congress. And Sund is exactly what this country needs a lot more of in D.C. You can click on the first link in this post, to find out a lot more about that.

Here’s her campaign website. I’ve added today’s press release, below the fold.

Sharon Sund launches MN-3 Congressional Campaign
Rather than Rep. Paulsen’s “shutdown tactics,” scientist, businesswoman, long-time Plymouth community advocate says we must “reinvest in children, seniors, families, and small business”
PLYMOUTH, MINN. — Scientist, businesswoman, and long time Plymouth community advocate Sharon Sund launched her campaign on Thursday to represent Minnesota’s Third Congressional District and replace three-term Republican incumbent Congressman Erik Paulsen.
“I’m running for Congress because Minnesota’s families deserve a thriving economy that rewards hard work and innovation,” said Sund at her campaign launch event outside the Plymouth Creek Christian Church on Thursday.
“Instead of Erik Paulsen’s government shutdown tactics and endless cuts, we need to reinvest in our children, seniors, families, and small businesses,” Sund said. “As your Congresswoman, I will work tirelessly to ensure that all families have access to a world-class education, quality health care, and a healthy environment, and all of us have a voice in the decisions that impact our lives.”
Local community leaders, including former Minnesota State Representative Betty Folliard and CEO & President of the Orlando Charles Company Sherrie Pugh, spoke in support of Sund at Thursday’s campaign launch event.
“I’ve seen Sharon in action, and I know that she has the heart, the chutzpah, and the experience to be an excellent representative of the Third District in Congress,” said Folliard. “She’s got a proven record of success – in advocacy, in science, in business, and in fighting for progressive values that will build a better Minnesota.”
Sund graduated with degrees in Chemistry and Biology from Macalester College in St. Paul, and started her career at the Minnesota Department of National Resources developing a state watershed map before leading a renewable energy research team at a Fortune 500 company in Bloomington, MN and eventually working as a technical communications expert for Target, SuperValu, and St. Jude.
More recently, Sund has worked as a tireless community advocate in Plymouth, serving as Vice Chair of People Responding in Social Ministry (PRiSM), a local social service agency helping families in need; co-founding a mentoring program for the families of children with disabilities; and sitting on the boards of the Plymouth Rotary, the Wayzata Special Education Council (WSEAC), Plymouth Creek Christian Church, and Pro-Choice Resources. Sund is also Chair of the Hennepin County Democrats.

We can’t field a better candidate in the third district? I know Paulson is a money juggernaut and on the GOP fast track for a leadership post, but judging by Sund’s campaign announcement this isn’t a serious campaign.
